With Stern and Maddux today. Gurnick's also going to be on as well as Billy Wagner. Tweeted Casey that I wouldn't listen and think they're trolls for giving Gurnick a podium, but can't make myself ignore what JS and Wagner will have to say.

Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...
Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
Keep us posted, won't you?
I'm sure clvclv will provide us the full details, but just saw this on 'the Twitta';

Well, that's intriguing.
thank you weso1!
"Due diligence?" Damn, DOB wasn't lying when he said the off-season was going to get busier.

Why do I feel like JS says that a lot. I'm sure we're done outside of maybe another bench piece or bullpen arm
The last rumor I saw besides the Tanaka talk (and the EOF rumors) had us interested in Betemit for the bench. I could see that still happening, esp. if he'll take a minor league deal with an invite to spring training. The Indians were the only other team cited as interested in Betemit. Wilson Betemit is also a former Brave of course.
I still think they want a TOR pitcher like Sale or Price. Their just waiting the arb figures and the price to come down a little.
The difference as I see it is Tampa Bay has a much better GM (and staff) than Arizona. So I don't see them getting desperate to move Price. I expect they'll just wait it out till mid-season (if no one gives them what they want before hand).
That said, it might be best we package Medlen in such a trade. We'd need to move someone anyway so if that helps improve our rotation I'd be okay with it. However, I'd rather do so without including Medlen where my package Medlen after with Uggla trade idea would still be a possibility. This way we end up upgrading both the rotation and second base too by removing Uggla.
Note: I would only consider packaging Medlen in a trade for another starter that is a clear upgrade to him (such as Price or Sale for example).

Speaking of starters we've showed interest in this off-season. Did y'all catch this from MLBTR?: "Jeff Samardzija believes he'd be unlikely to sign an extension with a new team following a trade from the Cubs, the right-hander tells CSN Chicago's Patrick Mooney. “The odds are very slim that I would," Samardzija said. "For any professional player two years out of free agency, the odds they sign a deal are pretty slim (in that situation).""
My guess is Wren will snap up the best BP arm available in a couple weeks when a few guys are left without the FA contracts they were expecting. This will allow Wren to sign a solid BP arm for essentially half price on a 1 year deal.
Other than that, I have to assume the team is pretty much set unless some craziness ensues after Tanaka is signed.
If so, they were late to report the interest as that rumor was posted at MLBTR after the Doumit trade. Betemit can play third, though he's bad at it (but so is CJ). So it may be our interest in him is for insurance at third as much as extra pop off the bench. In other words, if CJ stops hitting so well maybe Betemit gets some games against righties at third. Betemit also bring more power to the position (at least against righties). Much like Pena you don't want him facing lefties much.
Also, Doumit being a switch hitter with similar career numbers vs righties and lefties (minus the power as he has a lot more power left handed) gives us some options.
